Oxford Prep incorporates the Theory of Multiple Intelligences as the foundation of our school’s philosophy. This theory states that each of us possess at least eight intelligences that characterize the way we learn. Utilizing this theory as an instructional approach increases retention, thereby, producing optimum academic success for our students. The goal is to create a school environment that focuses on the following premise: all children can learn, and all are gifted.
Each classroom at Oxford Preparatory Academy is named after a renowned university that has a history of many Rhodes Scholarships, one of the most prestigious scholarships awarded to graduating college students. Our professors have created a collegiate atmosphere that supports our school vision, where all students are introduced to the comprehensive benefits of attending a higher-learning institution.
In addition to traditional school courses, all Oxford Prep students, starting in Kindergarten, enjoy a variety of specialty instruction. These classes include Science Lab, World Languages, Physical Education, Technology Lab, Taekwondo, as well as Visual and Performing Arts lessons such as Music Theory, Band, and Choir.
What Others are Saying
OPA has given our entire family a renewed sense of hope and confidence in our daughter’s future as well as our three other children. They have all found their place in a school that recognizes the importance of each child learning differently. They love learning in an environment that constantly reminds them how they are truly a “Champion.”
- OPA Parent
OPA's success has been repeatedly demonstrated by the enthusiasm the students show in their achievements on state standards testing, various local and regional competitions in sports, academics, the arts, and the collective spirit of the diverse staff, families, and the school community that is spread throughout the vast, wide surrounding area.
- OPA Class of 2012
Because OPA encouraged me to understand and pursue my strengths as a naturalist, linguistic, spatial, and musical learner, I had early opportunities to develop and explore those areas of study. Now that I find myself pursuing college level studies while going to high school, it is clear that these early experience really supported my interests and skills and has helped me determine what I wish to study at the university level.
- OPA Class of 2011
Being a student at OPA helped me to manage my time and appreciate how important studying and school is for the future. It allowed me to get into honors and AP classes in high school, which will help me get into college. OPA, being a smaller school for junior high, allowed me to become closer with classmates and teachers. It was overall a great experience.
- OPA Class of 2011
I am an alumni of Oxford Preparatory Academy and am a member of OPA’s first graduating class. While attending OPA, I participated in many programs, and studied Chinese for the first time. After entering high school, I chose to continue with Chinese and chose it as my foreign language. I received my official acceptance letter from the University of Oregon, my top university choice, and cannot wait to become a Duck! I am majoring in both Chinese and Environment Policy and hope to one day live and work in China.
- OPA Class of 2013
Oxford Preparatory Academy prepared me to be successful in my challenging academic courses. I have a strong foundation in note-taking, study skills, and test preparation. The high standards OPA provided me the opportunity to grow as a student. The skills I mastered at OPA has helped me in high school, and will continue to help me in as I go to college, and my professional career.
My son just completed Kindergarten and what an incredible year he had! His teacher was kind, caring, and most importantly, pushed him to succeed...The before/after school care available is also excellent.
Our daughter has attended OPA for three years. We love that she was able to attend science lab, computer class, and foreign language as young as transitional kindergarten, as well as participate in clubs like Jr. Glee. We also like that each year, her class learns about a different university. I never thought about college until I was in high school, but my daughter will be familiar with so many excellent universities while she's still in elementary school.
- OPA Parent
A refreshing alternative. My child is thriving here. Staff is very professional. You know your child matters when they attend Oxford.
- OPA Parent
My children love going to school every single day. All four kids love their teachers and excel in areas where they have struggled in the past. Our family loves the community the school provides and the involvement parents are allowed to have on campus.
