Take the First Steps to Joining the Oxford Preparatory Academy Family!

We know that finding the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you have to make as a parent or guardian. We are thankful that you are considering our school of choice.

Applications to Oxford Preparatory Academy are accepted during the Open Enrollment period. The best way to learn more about our program is to sign up for one of our upcoming Parent Information Meetings, webinars, or campus tours.

The SOC campus in Mission Viejo is inviting prospective parents to our Open House on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  On this night, parents will be able to tour the classrooms and meet teachers.  We will be having an additional Informational Meeting on Friday, 01/25 at 2:00pm that will not include access to classrooms. Please feel welcome to attend one of these informational sessions.  After that, we will have an informational video on the website that will detail our programs on campus.

Oxford Prep’s Admissions Process Explained

As a public charter school, Oxford Preparatory Academy must follow the guidelines as seen in our approved charter petition regarding admissions and enrollment of students. The process explained below was designed to provide a fair opportunity for all students to apply to our school, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, home language, or disability.

  • Open Enrollment

Oxford Prep conducts an Open Enrollment period for 15 or 30 days each year. Should Oxford have spaces available after the Open Enrollment period, in a specified grade level, no lottery will be held, and applications will continue to be accepted as space permits in that grade level.

  • Parent Information Meetings

During Open Enrollment, and throughout the academic year, Oxford Prep hosts Parent Information Meetings (PIMs) to share our unique program with parents and guardians.

  • Enrollment Application

Parents are invited to complete an enrollment application during Open Enrollment. Proof of residency, most current report card, and date of birth is then provided to the school at a scheduled Intake day.

  • The Lottery

Following the Open Enrollment period each year, applications will be counted to determine whether any grade level has received more applications than availability. In the event that this happens, the school will hold a random public lottery to determine enrollment for the impacted grade levels.

  • Lottery Results

Although we welcome parents and guardians to attend the lottery, your presence is not required. Our staff will post the results of the lottery in the front office after all names have been drawn. This process can take up to eight hours depending on the number of applicants. A notice of the lottery results will also be mailed out to all applicants in the weeks following the lottery.

  • Admission to Oxford Prep

Upon acceptance to Oxford Preparatory Academy, an Admissions Packet must be submitted which includes an admissions application, home language survey, health history questionnaire, class placement subject to change form, copy of immunizations, copy of most recent report card, and a copy of the student's IEP or 504 plan, if applicable. No student will be denied admission to Oxford Prep based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, home language, or disability.

  • Re-Enrollment

In the spring, during the Open Enrollment period, the parent(s)/guardian(s) of students attending Oxford Prep will be required to complete a Re-Enrollment Form to continue into the next school year. The school will notify parents via telephone, in-person, and/or email to complete the re-enrollment process.

  • A Fresh Start Each Year

During Open Enrollment, this process is repeated. Students remaining on the waiting list at the end of each school year must go through the open enrollment process for the upcoming school year, however, the sibling priority wait list does not expire.
